Join Vielo Sports for an afternoon of exceptional gravel riding and pizza, as we build our community of North East gravel lovers. As Vielo we spend so many weekends out at events throughout the UK, we want to bring our expo to the North East gravel community. Come chat routes, share your adventures. We can offer advice on some of the best events we've been to in the UK, talk about what gravel bike trends are doing etc. If you run a local cycling club and want to bring your riders, let us offer some hospitality.

The ride will be limited to 30 participants for our first event. If successful we'll look to do another in October.

The Ride

We invite you to experience some of the region’s finest gravel roads. Our scenic route will take you on a circular loop starting and finishing directly at the event grounds.
Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Geordie Man Triathlon registration day with coffee vendors on site pre ride and Pizza Supplied by Vielo after the ride. 

The Route

TBC - 40km mixed surface paved and gravel. Elevation TBC. The route will be uploaded to this page and GPX files emailed to riders in the coming days. 

The Location

Starting at Druridge bay Country Park we'll be located in the Expo area within the Geordieman Triathlon event.  

Vielo Demo Fleet

The Vielo team will be on-site with our latest display bikes and a demo fleet. While the demo bikes are not for the duration of the group ride itself, you can book a dedicated test ride BOOK A TEST RIDE.

Parking and Facilities

All participants and spectators are required to pay for parking at Druridge Bay Country Park.

Please ensure payment is made upon arrival to avoid penalties. Display your ticket or confirmation clearly if applicable.

There are toilets at the visitors centre for Druridge Bay Country Park as well as additional porta-loos around the event village and in transition.

On The Day

Riders are asked to meet at the Vielo Expo tent in the event village ready to ride for 1pm sharp. The Pace will be a social chatty, non drop pace. We'll give a quick pre ride briefing of the health and safety points and emergency contacts.

Please ensure you're self sufficient for a 40km ride. Bring suitable clothes, nutrition and spares. Treat it like a club run with your mates and bring everything you think you'll need. Also, Helmets are mandatory for joining the group ride. No helmet no ride. 

After the ride we'll make use of the Vielo hangout area with pizza's available for riders to snack on.

Support

We'll have staff on hand for the weekend, with very limited resources for mechanics. Please check your bike before you ride. We'll do everything we can to help you while we're out but bring spare tubes / tubeless plugs etc.

To secure your spot on this Vielo Gravel Ride Out. Fill in the form on this page. To help manage rider numbers and ensure those booking are likely to attend, we're asking for a £5 commitment. This £5 commitment will be donation in full to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation 

The Foundation funds projects within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that directly benefit cancer patients from across north east England and Cumbria – and which also contribute significantly to international research into the disease.
